Perio Therapy
Periodontal dentistry refers to caring for the gum and bone structures that support your teeth. Without a healthy foundation, your ability to keep your teeth throughout your lifetime could be at risk. Ironically, this branch of dentistry is the least recognized and despite its importance, many of us unknowingly neglect our gums. This can result in infection and disease without us even knowing about it.
You can ensure the health of you gums and supportive structures with Dr. Hamblen and Dr. Robinson. Your access to our advanced periodontal therapy programs is your key to the restoration of your gums and the prevention of future problems. Your initial evaluation will include an assessment of your periodontal health, complete with recommendations concerning home care, and if necessary, a treatment plan designed to restore and maintain your gum health for life.
Tooth Extraction
Every effort is made to keep all your teeth, as it is always the best and preferred solution. In the instance that a tooth cannot be saved, it may be recommended to extract the tooth. This extraction can be done here in our office instead of your being referred to a specialist in the area. If you imagine a tooth extraction to be an unpleasant experience, you may be surprised at the comfortable, gentle care you receive from our team. And, after the extraction, Dr. Robinson or Dr. Hamblen will present you with several treatment options designed to restore your smile.
Fillings
When the decay has been taken out of the tooth, it is replaced with "filling" material. In the past, amalgam (silver) fillings were placed into the cleaned out portion of the tooth. With advancements in dentistry, you can now have tooth-colored fillings instead of silver fillings.
Tooth-colored fillings look more natural and are bonded to the remaining tooth making it much stronger than one that is restored with a silver filling. You may even elect to remove your old silver fillings and replace them with natural tooth-colored fillings.
Nightguard
When your teeth do not align properly while you sleep, the muscles in your face and jaw cannot relax, resulting in headaches, migraines, neck pain and other ailments. Additionally chipped, cracked, or broken teeth may occur, as well as periodontal (gum tissue) breakdown.
A nightguard is a customized bite appliance that is worn while you sleep. Dr. Robinson or Dr. Hamblen specially design your night guard so that it will allow your jaw to relax and rest while you slumber, eliminating the issues that stem from clenching and grinding. If you think you may suffer from nighttime clenching and grinding of your teeth (bruxism), you are just an appointment away from finding the path toward relief.
